Diod v0.1.0.6 — Light and life Stage: Pre-alpha · 21 October 2026 Changes since v0.1.0.5 More readable lighting - Brighter neutral fill and broader lamps in the bunker; remove underground volumetric fog even on High. The near-black interior ambient setting is gone. - More readable outdoor shadows through a stable color/sky fill, gentler ambient occlusion/contrast and lifted exposure. Night retains its mood with a soft directional fill rather than leaving orientation entirely to darkness. - Scene brightness is adjustable from 75–160% in Esc > Settings. The same brightness floor applies across Low/Medium/High. Saved time is unchanged. The first environmental soundscape - Birds/forest ambience and wind outdoors, night insects after dark, quiet bunker ventilation indoors and nearby burning-fire crackle. - Outdoor layers fade when entering the bunker. Recorded ambient beds crossfade at loop boundaries. Fire fades by distance and pans with your viewing direction; extinguished fires do not produce crackle. - Varied footsteps respond to grounded distance travelled. No walking sounds while standing still, jumping, mounted, using menus or teleporting. - Quiet feedback for actual pickups, equipment changes, crafting, books/menus, chopping, digging/mining, bow release and damaging landings. - Overall, nature/ambience, footsteps/actions and menus/inventory each have a volume control. Zero mutes the selected category. World audio pauses with menus; menu feedback remains separately controlled. - Brightness and audio preferences are saved on this computer, separately from your world and graphics-quality preference. Settings apply immediately. Updating and saves Close Diod, back up your save and replace the application (or the complete Windows/Linux extracted folder). Existing worlds, inventory, knowledge, quick slots, terrain edits and settlement/horse progress retain their save locations. No new game or clock reset is needed. No normal player save was used for tests or included in the download. All audio is packaged for offline play; no login or external audio service is needed. Source/license details accompany the build. Validation and known limits The actual Linux export passed 23 atmosphere checks (lighting across quality/ time/interior, audio decoding/mapping/gating, bounded voices, preferences and settings), 32 existing experience checks and release identity/content/Earth/ legacy-save-path verification. All selected raw audio hashes were verified. Small Linux software-rendered fixtures were reviewed at 160% brightness; the game default is 100%. Windows icon/version metadata and Mac bundle identity/ version/both architectures passed. The Mac app is freshly Developer ID signed, Apple notarized and stapled (submission 72c66624-102f-4e65-82cf-8e371d05afaf). These checks cover packaging and basic lighting/audio behavior; full-world visual and listening acceptance on the owner's Mac/Windows machine remain pending. The software-rendered fixtures are not a GPU performance benchmark or a calibrated full-world comparison. Current action foley is an initial mix, including provisional material/bow cues. Weather/water layers, horse/wildlife voices, settlement chatter, full spatial occlusion and music remain future work. Generic ambience is not species/location-specific. Earlier art, movement, moving-target hunting, horse-to-bunker and river issues remain subject to local feedback. Windows publisher signing is absent. https://diod.world/updates.html#v0.1.0.6
